I recently found myself feeling very overwhelmed and stressed out over all this coronavirus disease. My husband insisted that I go to the grocery when I had already done our regular weekly shopping, so on Tuesday morning at 7:00 am I headed to my local Hannaford grocery store. Once inside I found some things the same, but a lot of things different, from empty shelves to other customers chatter about the virus, and no toilet paper! I don’t get the whole toilet paper hoarding but anyway – so needless to say I loaded my cart with macaroni, spaghetti sauce, beans, more milk, bread, cat food (can’t forget my kitty) and probably other stuff I really don’t need. I skipped my workout, that probably wasn’t a good idea – got called into work, to scan patients as they entered the building, which I had done all day, the day before! I guess, you can say it was all getting very real.
I’m sure many of you, like me feel the same why, how can we manage our anxiety and stress during this very stressful time? For me, I like to workout, I need to keep up with my routine, I need to turn off and tune out all the noise about the virus, I need to do things I enjoy. I went to the CDC (Centers for Disease Control) to find some helpful tips not only for me, but for all of you! I hope you find this link useful.
I think trying to stay positive, being kind, doing what we normally do, as much as we can is the key and don’t be afraid to say you are stressed out – it’s natural. I’d love to hear from you.
